Ocean Liner Silver and Other Metals
Silver and other metal objects can be the focal point of a great collection,
or they can be the finishing touches to a setting, or individual items
can be worthwhile collectibles on their own. No matter what the objective,
these artifacts are among the most desirable for any ocean liner collection.

The silver plated sign holder was used in Cunard White Star ships' dining
rooms. The wings at the top held signs with the table number printed on
both sides so diners would know their assigned table. Similar sign holders
are still used today on cruise ships and in banquet facilities, but this
is vintage with the Cunard White Star logotype engraved on its very heavy
base.
Spoons, forks, and knives--along with specialty items, such as fish knives--are
wonderful ocean liner collectibles. Most feature the emblem or house flag
of the line. The spoons shown at the right are all from White Star Line
(before the merger with Cunard). But we have place settings and individual
utensils available from a variety of steamship and cruise lines.
On the table
RMS Regina Pepper Shaker
This pepper shaker was sold as a souvenir on board the RMS Regina. It features
the ship's name and White Star Line house flag in cloisonne.
Cunard pastry rack
When having tea on board one of the Cunard ships, this is the kind of rack
that would hold your savories and sweets. If having tea on deck, the waiter
would carry this kind of rack and as you pointed out your selections, he
would use tongs to serve them to you. This rack, which is silver plated
measures 17 inches tall, 12 inches across from foot to foot on the handle
sides and 6 1/2 inches wide between the front and back feet. The three trays, which can be removed, are 9 inches in diameter.
It is likely from the QE2.
Queen Mary Launch Medallion
These highly collectible bronze medallions commemorated the launch of RMS
Queen Mary.
The cases measure 4 1/8 inches square. The medallions measure 2 3/4 inches in diameter and are
1/4 inch thick.
Cunard Silver Creamer
This heavy restaurant plate silver creamer was the type used on most Cunard
ships. It measures 4 1/2 inches across between the end of the spout and
end of the handle, 4 inches high, and is 1 1/2 inches wide.
